Cancer Center Scores Reaccreditation

NorthBay Cancer Center has earned four commendations and a renewed accreditation from the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer.

Following a rigorous assessment by commission surveyors in 2018, the center operated by NorthBay Healthcare was recently notified that it had been reaccredited for another three years. NorthBay Cancer Center has maintained this national accreditation since 1996. The Commission on Cancer is a consortium of professional organizations dedicated to improving survival and quality of life for cancer patients through standard-setting, prevention, research, education and monitoring of comprehensive quality care.

The evaluation is voluntary and NorthBay Cancer Center invited the commission to conduct the independent examination of its performance. “We have an incredible team of physicians, nurses and staff who are dedicated to providing the best possible care to our patients,” noted Justine Zilliken, assistant vice president, specialty and surgical services, “and this accreditation reflects that exceptional care. We couldn’t be prouder of the Cancer Center team, with special thanks to Registrar Charlene Thompson for her work in managing the accreditation survey process.”
