Blue Shield Signs Multi-Year Agreement

NorthBay Healthcare and Blue Shield of California signed a multi-year agreement in 2019, welcoming back Blue Shield members who can again receive services at NorthBay Medical Center in Fairfield and NorthBay VacaValley Hospital in Vacaville, and within NorthBay’s network of primary care and specialty physicians.

The new contract went into effect Sept. 1.

NorthBay Healthcare President and CEO B. Konard Jones singled out Managed Care’s Jaye Lynn Bonham and Steve Davis for working long hours with the Finance team to make it happen. The talks were conducted concurrently with Anthem Blue Cross negotiations, which made the success even more noteworthy, Konard said.

Under the agreement, Blue Shield’s Access + HMO and Standard PPO members will have access to NorthBay’s physician network and its two hospitals. However, NorthBay physicians and the hospitals do not participate in the Blue Shield Individual Family Plans (IFP) that use the EPN provider network. Blue Shield’s Trio HMO product is not available in NorthBay’s service area.
